Hi, I’m Dr. Christina Clemons, PhD
Dr. Clemons offers thoughtful, inclusive therapy for individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, and depression. She creates a supportive space where clients can explore their challenges, gain insight, and nurture a transformative relationship with themselves.
Dr. Clemons holds a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Fordham University and is licensed in New York, New Jersey, and Florida. Her practice is a safe space where all parts of your identity are honored and welcomed.
With over a decade of experience, Dr. Clemons has worked with a diverse range of clients—from young children and college students to retired veterans—always approaching care with warmth, cultural responsiveness, and genuine connection. She is deeply committed to providing affirming therapy for individuals from historically marginalized communities, with a particular passion for working with AAPI and LGBTQIA+ populations.
Clients can expect a collaborative, warm, and grounded experience. Sessions are designed to be reflective, supportive, and human, incorporating both depth and moments of lightness where appropriate. Whether working through trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, or self-exploration, she provides a space for growth, healing, and empowerment.
Her Path to Psychology
Dr. Clemons' journey to becoming a psychologist wasn't a straight line—and she sees that as a strength.
After high school, she attended culinary school with dreams of opening a restaurant. That path shifted when she enrolled at the Hotel School at Cornell University and later spent a summer living in Sydney, Australia, while pursuing a career in hospitality.
As her interests evolved, she found her way into the world of psychology. She completed her BA in New York City, earned a master's degree, and ultimately received her PhD in Counseling Psychology from Fordham University.
Throughout her training, she worked in a range of clinical settings—including The Child Mind Institute, Bellevue Hospital, and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the New Jersey VA Healthcare System, where she worked extensively with veterans and strengthened her commitment to trauma-informed work.
Each step along the way—even the unexpected turns—helped shape the psychologist she is today.
Her Approach
Dr. Clemons draws from a psychodynamic and relational framework, emphasizing the impact of both past experiences and present-day relationships. She believes that while the past shapes who we are, we also have the strength and capacity to heal, grow, and write new chapters for ourselves.
At the heart of her work is the belief that the therapeutic relationship—one rooted in trust, safety, and respect—is essential for meaningful healing. She aims to create a space where clients can reflect, explore, and express parts of themselves that may not feel safe to share anywhere else.
Her approach integrates psychodynamic therapy, relational therapy, and trauma-informed care in a collaborative, client-centered way, with a strong emphasis on cultural awareness and affirming care for diverse identities.
